That's why our dentists are trained and certified in nearly every form of oral surgery and keep your comfort, safety and smile as top priorities.

  • Wisdom Teeth Removal

Despite what they are called, wisdom teeth will not make you smarter. If anything, they've only proven to become quite the nuisance, causing headaches, toothaches and even a crammed smile. Wisdom teeth are the last or third set of molars in your mouth. If not removed in time, they will erupt, usually during the late teens or twenties.

While some people grow up fortunate enough to keep their wisdom teeth without complications, and some will grow up without having any wisdom teeth at all, others will have issues. That means wisdom teeth will stay impacted in the jaw, likely causing headaches, infection of the gums, tooth decay or destruction of the jawbone.

At Grossi Dental and Wellness, your wisdom teeth do not go unnoticed. We will make sure even those who aren't bothered by impacted or erupted wisdom teeth know the risks of leaving them be.

We are experienced in wisdom teeth extraction and know that each patient's situation is different. During the procedure, your jaw will be numbed. Before the procedure, we will walk you through all the steps we will be taking and teach you how to care for your stitches and prevent dry sockets. If you have not had your wisdom teeth removed, schedule an appointment with us before they become a problem.

  • Root Canals

Root canals are narrow chambers that anchor the tooth into your gums. When the pulp of a tooth becomes infected by either a deep cavity or fracture, it can spread into the root canal and root tips. When this happens, and treatment is delayed, serious infection can pass into the jawbone. Once the infection sets in, it can damage the bone that surrounds the tooth. As a result, the pressure inside the bone and ligaments can cause excruciating pain. If treatment is delayed even further, the problem can become even more serious.

Before the problem gets to that point, consult a dentist. Telltale signs that you're experiencing a root canal infection include sensitivity to hot and cold, swollen and painful gums surrounding the tooth, or a bad taste in your mouth. Sometimes, you may have no symptoms at all, which is an important reason to have regular dentist checkups.

At Grossi Dental and Wellness, saving your tooth from extraction is extremely important to us. Treating an infection with root canal therapy can prevent the loss of a tooth while also preventing the spread of infection. Root canal therapy can take one to two visits to the dentist and pricing can vary with each situation.

Maintaining the health of your mouth can be the most beneficial care you can do for yourself. Experience the difference of a healthier smile and mouth by scheduling an appointment with us today.

  • Periodontal Gum Disease

Nearly all who do not maintain good daily oral hygiene will develop gingivitis. If left untreated, this bacterial gum infection can progress from gingivitis to periodontitis, which results in bone loss around your teeth. As the bone tissue is lost, the gum tissues detach from the teeth and form little pockets that provide an even better place for bacteria to live ' where your brush and floss can't reach. As periodontal disease advances, bone loss and tooth loss can result. Part of this has to do with genetics, as periodontal disease tends to run in families. The good news is that periodontal disease can be controlled, even at more advanced stages.

Signs and Symptoms of Gum Disease

It's important to understand that you can have periodontal disease with no obvious symptoms, especially if you smoke. Still, there are some important things to look for:

    • Bleeding gums
    • Bad breath
    • Redness or swelling of the gums
    • Receding gums
    • Sensitivity
    • Periodontal abscess
    • Loose teeth

    Periodontal Treatment Options

All periodontal therapy starts with the evaluation of your oral hygiene techniques and instructions for improvement, followed by the mechanical removal of plaque and any calcified deposits (tartar or calculus) present on root surfaces. This is accomplished with a cleaning technique known as scaling, root planing or debridement using hand instruments and/or ultrasonic (high frequency vibrational) instruments. Locally applied antimicrobial products or antibiotics might also be recommended during various parts of periodontal treatment to assist in healing and pocket-depth reduction, hopefully eliminating the need for periodontal surgery.

Sometimes surgical procedures may be necessary to remove the deep pockets that form between inflamed gum tissue and teeth. There are many different types of surgery that handle a variety of problems. Often, combinations of procedures are used in order to reduce the number of surgeries as well as the cost of treatment.

Preventive Strategies The best way to prevent periodontal disease is to brush and floss your teeth effectively every day. Regular dental checkups and professional cleanings every 6 months are also an important part of maintaining periodontal health; we can reach into areas that your toothbrush and floss can't.

We can also detect early forms of gum disease by evaluating your gingival (gum) tissues, both visually and by examining their attachment levels to the teeth. We can assess the health of your tooth-supporting bone by taking dental x-rays. Schedule an appointment today to keep your whole mouth healthy.

  • Pediatric Dentistry

If you are looking for a dentist for your children, you have come to the right place for complete family care. We understand children are often apprehensive about seeing the dentist. That's why our caring team creates a fun and relaxing atmosphere, setting your kids up for a life-long positive relationship with oral health.

    Exam, Cleaning & Fluoride

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends having your child's teeth cleaned twice a year. Preventive dental exams, teeth cleaning and topical fluoride treatment are important tools used to maintain good dental health. Children should be seen for their first dental exam by their first birthday. However, children under the age of 3 years may be somewhat fearful and not ready to cooperate for teeth cleaning and topical fluoride treatment. If your child is under the age of 3, our dentists will work with them to complete a full dental examination and familiarize your child with our staff and office.

Download our Pediatric Dental Reference Guide for more information on how to keep kids' smiles healthy.

Preventing dental decay begins when your child's very first tooth erupts, and it is important to familiarize yourself with the procedures available. While all children can benefit from dental exams, teeth cleaning and fluoride treatments, children that have permanent molars can further benefit from a preventive procedure known as dental sealants. Sealants are one of the most effective procedures available for preventing tooth decay in the biting surfaces of permanent teeth. Sealants are recommended for permanent molars, and the application is simple and painless.

Schedule an appointment for your child today to set them up for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

  • NTI Suppression Systems

Migraines, headaches and painful tension in the jaw or face are more than just a nuisance. They can seriously disrupt your day. What many people may not know is that these issues are often caused by grinding your teeth. Fortunately, at Grossi Dental and Wellness, we have natural means to treat these issues, leaving you with less pain, drug-free.

We do this with the NTI Suppression System. This device works works by placing a tiny acrylic appliance securely over your upper front teeth'preventing contact between molars and canine teeth. The lack of that contact will leave your jaw unable to clench unconsciously, and prevent unnecessary strain on the muscles in your face and jaw. The appliance is most effectively worn at night, or at times when you find yourself clenching or grinding your teeth the most.

The NTI appliance is approved by the FDA and is proven to be twice as effective as preventative medicine and painkillers. In fact, our patients have experienced more than 70 percent fewer migraines within the first eight weeks of using the NTI appliance.

If you've been experiencing unexplainable headaches, jaw tension or migraines, you may be suffering from grinding or clenching your teeth, which is very common in adults. Dr. Bobby Grossi is highly experienced in diagnosis and can most likely determine if the NTI Suppression System is right solution for you after one consultation.

  • Oral Cancer Screening

Cancer screening is an important part of routine dental and overall health care. While your dentist will always check for any visual abnormalities, a simple screening can detect problems before they become apparent.

    VELscope for Oral Cancer Screening

The VELscope system helps visualize abnormalities in the tissues of your lips, mouth and upper throat. In just two minutes, with no rinses, stains or discomfort, a VELscope examination lets our dentists improve their assessment of your overall oral health.

    How Does the VELscope Work?

The VELscope's blue light 'excites' molecules (called 'fluorophores') deep within the layers of oral mucosal tissues. In turn, those fluorophores emit their own light (fluorescence), in shades of green, yellow and red. The VELscope's proprietary filter makes fluorescence visualization possible, by blocking reflected blue light, and by enhancing the contrast between normal and abnormal tissue.

The next time you visit our team, ask for a VELscope Oral Cancer Screening. It's only $25 and could potentially save your life.

  • Sedation Dentistry

For some, fear of the dentist's chair is enough to keep them out of the office entirely. While dental anxiety is certainly a common issue, we believe it should never keep you from receiving the care you need to maintain a healthy, pain-free smile. As part of our commitment to making your experience as comfortable as possible we are proud to offer sedation dentistry.

Our dentists are trained to offer mild sedation services to lessen pain and help you relax through your appointment. You will remain awake and able to answer questions throughout the procedure, but will be mildly sedated throughout.

Before your appointment, we will talk through your concerns and anxieties about dentistry. Our dentists are specially trained to administer mild sedatives and will determine the right option for you.

Sedative medications help you relax by slowing the action of your central nervous system. This has a deeply calming effect'often patients have little to no memory of the actual appointment. Throughout the procedure, you will remain awake enough to communicate with your dentist, letting them know how you feel.

It is important that you have a friend or family member drive you to and from your appointment, as sedation medications may leave you groggy.

If anxiety is interfering with your oral health, let's talk. Our dentists can help determine if sedation dentistry is right for you.

  • TMJ Disorders

Your temporomandibular joints (TMJ) are the complex system of bone, muscles and ligaments that hinge your jaw bone to the rest of your skull. When functioning normally, this joint allows you to smoothly chew, speak, yawn and swallow.

Any problem preventing your jaw from functioning properly is often referred to as TMJ. Common signs of a TMJ disorder can include a popping noise when opening your mouth or feeling like your jaw is momentarily stuck. This can be accompanied by tenderness of the jaw muscles, headaches, and a sudden change in how your upper and lower teeth fit together.

We check for signs of TMJ during your routine exam. However, if you are experiencing jaw pain or change in bite, set up an appointment right away.

TMJ disorders can be disruptive to your life and may be caused by a number of things. Common causes include grinding or clenching your teeth, arthritis, injury, or a movement of a disc within the ball and socket of the joint. Any activity that puts stress on the joint could trigger a potential issue.

Determining the cause of your TMJ is an important step in treatment. Therapy can range from a custom bite plate or splint to prevent grinding your teeth at night to anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce swelling. Applying heat to the affected joint and eating softer foods can also reduce discomfort.

If you are experiencing TMJ issues, give us a call to set up an appointment today. We can suggest therapies based on what's causing your pain.

  • Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)

Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) stop breathing momentarily while sleeping, often starting again with a loud snort or choking sound. Aside from snoring, OSA causes poor quality sleep, which can make you drowsy during the day and even affect your mood. Because OSA lowers the amount of oxygen reaching your blood stream at night, it can be a contributing factor for more serious problems if left untreated. Unchecked OSA can even increase your risk for a stroke or heart disease.

If you think you have OSA or want to explore options to reduce snoring, set up an appointment with us today. We'll give you a free sleep apnea screening and oral appliance recommendation.

At your appointment, you will receive a free sleep apnea screening. Here, your dentist will look at your complete health history, do a head and neck evaluation and assess your sleep patterns. Based on this evaluation, they can show you several solutions for simple, removable oral appliances that comfortably position your lower jaw forward while you sleep.
